VeryDarkMan (VDM) Fires Back at Femi Falana Over NBA Conference Criticism

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has reacted to comments by human rights lawyer Femi Falana over his participation in a panel discussion at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference.

During an interview on Channels Television, Falana was asked about the decision to have VeryDarkMan participate in a discussion relating to security at the NBA conference. Falana questioned the choice, noting that in previous years, experts were typically invited to address specialised issues at the conference. He described it as inappropriate to bring someone who is not an expert in the field to discuss security matters.

VeryDarkMan responded in a video posted on his YouTube channel on the morning of August 28, 2026, saying he was disappointed by Falana’s remarks. He argued that much of the criticism surrounding his appearance at the conference was rooted in what he described as classism.

According to VeryDarkMan, some critics appeared uncomfortable with the idea of the “son of nobody” being given a platform at an NBA conference. He maintained that despite not coming from a privileged background, he has contributed more to society than many people with greater status or professional recognition.

VeryDarkMan’s participation at the NBA conference has continued to generate debate, with some critics questioning his suitability for the panel while others have defended his inclusion and argued that public discussions should accommodate voices beyond established professionals.

What do you think? Was VeryDarkMan’s inclusion appropriate, or should the NBA have relied solely on security experts? Share your views on our Facebook and X pages.
