Friends and associates of Nigerian dancer and hypeman Iweh Pascal Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, have rallied behind him following reports that he is being held on remand in the United Kingdom.
Snaresbrook Crown Court has now confirmed that Poco Lee’s case is listed for a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 15, 2026.
The confirmation was reportedly provided by the court’s Admin Team Lead, James Baker, following an enquiry by PUNCH Online. Baker said the precise hearing time and courtroom would not be available until the day before the proceedings.
Although the court confirmed that the case concerns an alleged assault, it did not disclose the specific nature of the allegation. Claims circulating online that the case involves an alleged sexual assault have therefore not been independently confirmed by the court, UK police or the Crown Prosecution Service.
Several of Poco Lee’s friends have taken to social media to express concern and urge the public to avoid reaching conclusions before the legal process is completed.
Filmmaker TG Omori described Poco Lee as a close friend whom he had known for years. Following criticism of his initial comments, Omori clarified that he was neither defending sexual offences nor attempting to obstruct justice.
Socialite Rahman Jago also appealed for restraint, describing the situation as painful and urging social-media users not to circulate unverified information or exploit the matter for attention.
Instagram influencer Sulaaaaaaa similarly cautioned against spreading rumours and described the dancer as a person with a good heart.
Reports about Poco Lee’s alleged detention began circulating online on August 19. Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby, subsequently said the entertainer was being held on remand in a British prison.
Kuti initially claimed that the September 15 hearing would begin at 10am. However, the court reportedly clarified that the exact time and courtroom would only be released shortly before the proceedings.
Poco Lee is expected to enter a plea during the September hearing, after which the court will determine how the case should proceed.
No plea has yet been publicly recorded and no finding of guilt has been made. Poco Lee remains presumed innocent unless and until convicted by a court.
