Nigerian media personality Roby Ekpo has opened up on The
Honest Bunch podcast about the collapse of his 11-year marriage to Mayowa
Lambe. According to him, he financially supported his wife’s relocation to the
United States several years ago through an “arranged” marriage and continued to
send her a significant portion of his earnings—sometimes nearly half—while she
lived abroad. He described how the long-distance marriage gradually broke down.
Ekpo further alleged that he was devastated after
discovering—reportedly through social media—that his estranged wife had
remarried another man in the United States. Speaking emotionally during the
interview, he said the revelation came after years of financial commitment and
personal sacrifice, leaving him “deeply heartbroken” by what he described as a
shocking end to their union. Meanwhile, Mayowa Lambe has appeared unbothered
publicly, recently sharing videos of herself and her new husband in the US, signalling
that she has moved on despite the ongoing controversy.
People’s opinions are now divided: while some are calling
Roby Ekpo stupid for supporting the relocation of his wife—whom he has no child
with—to the United States, saying that these kinds of situations usually end
with one partner moving on with someone else overseas, others have found no
fault in his actions, arguing that he did nothing wrong by seeking a better
future for himself, his wife, and their unborn children. Describing him as
stupid.
