Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen has left German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg after both parties agreed to end his contract by mutual consent.
The 34-year-old’s departure comes months after he collapsed during a Denmark international friendly against Ukraine in June.
Eriksen subsequently returned to Denmark to begin a rehabilitation programme and spend more time with his family.
In July, the footballer reassured supporters that he was recovering at home following the incident, explaining that his implanted cardiac device (ICD) had responded as designed.
He also expressed gratitude to the medical personnel who have supported him throughout his heart-related health journey. B
Eriksen joined Wolfsburg as a free agent last year and made 34 appearances for the club across all competitions. During his time with the German side, he contributed three goals and 10 assists.
His contract had been due to expire in June 2027, but the agreement to terminate it early brings his spell at Wolfsburg to an end.
The midfielder is now expected to remain focused on his recovery and spending time with his family.
