Remember the legendary American rapper Tupac Shakur?

His music was widely played across the world, including Nigeria, in the late 1990s and early 2000s. But Tupac’s life was tragically cut short in 1996 when he was shot in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas.

The shots that killed Tupac were reportedly fired from a white Cadillac carrying four men. One of them was Duane Davis, popularly known as Keffe D.

Thirty years later, Keffe D is the only surviving occupant of that Cadillac. The other three men who were reportedly in the vehicle — Orlando Anderson, DeAndre Smith and Terrence Brown — have all since died.

For decades, questions remained over exactly what happened that night and who should be held responsible. Keffe D himself made several public statements about the shooting, and prosecutors alleged that he helped obtain the weapon used in the attack and participated in the events that led to Tupac’s death.

Then, on August 31, 2026 — almost 30 years after the shooting — a jury convicted Keffe D of murder for his role in Tupac Shakur’s killing.

Three decades after one of the most famous unsolved killings in music history, a murder conviction has finally been secured.

Keffe D remains in custody awaiting sentencing and has indicated that he intends to appeal his conviction.
