Friends and associates of Nigerian dancer and hypeman Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, have expressed support for him following reports that he is being held on remand in the United Kingdom.
Initial reports circulating online linked his detention to an alleged sexual assault. However, the publicly available court record does not disclose the offence involved, and the sexual-assault claim has not been confirmed by the court, UK police or the Crown Prosecution Service.
Several of Poco Lee’s colleagues have taken to social media to describe him as kind-hearted and urge the public to avoid reaching conclusions while the legal process continues.
Filmmaker TG Omori said he was saddened by the development, describing Poco Lee as a close friend whom he had known for years. Following criticism of his initial comments, Omori clarified that he was neither defending sexual offences nor attempting to undermine the justice process.
Socialite Rahman Jago also appealed for restraint, saying it was painful to see his friend facing such a serious situation. He urged social-media users not to exploit the matter for attention or circulate unverified information, adding that Poco Lee needed the support of his friends during the difficult period.
Instagram influencer Sulaaaaaaa similarly cautioned against spreading rumours and described the dancer as a person with a good heart.
Reports concerning Poco Lee’s alleged detention began circulating online on August 19, 2026. Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and identified as the founder of a Nigerian community organisation in the UK, subsequently said that the entertainer was being held on remand in a British prison.
A publicly available court record lists a defendant named Iweh Odinaka for a bail hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court on August 21. The record does not state the charge and indicates that reporting restrictions apply.
According to Kuti, Poco Lee is expected to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court at 10am on September 15, 2026, for a plea hearing. Kuti said he intended to attend the proceedings and offer community support. The September hearing date could not be independently confirmed through a publicly accessible future court listing at the time of publication.
Kuti urged the public to allow the judicial process to run its course. No finding of guilt has been made, and Poco Lee is presumed innocent unless and until convicted by a court.
