Lwandowski overtakes Ronaldo as oldest Nations league hat-trick scorer

Poland captain Robert Lewandowski has etched his name into UEFA Nations League history after becoming the oldest player to score a hat-trick in the competition.

The veteran striker delivered a stunning performance on Friday as Poland demolished Romania 6-0 in Warsaw.

Lewandowski found the net in the 24th, 47th and 86th minutes, completing his treble at the age of 38 years and 42 days.
His achievement surpassed the previous record held by Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who was 34 years and 120 days old when he scored three goals against Switzerland in the 2019 Nations League semi-final.

The hat-trick also added to several milestones for Lewandowski. The match marked his 170th appearance for Poland, extending his record as the country’s most-capped player, while his three goals increased his international tally to 92.

Lewandowski’s latest feat further underlines his remarkable longevity at the highest level of international football, coming more than a decade after he established himself as one of Europe’s leading goalscorers..
