Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has stirred reactions online after commenting on relationships involving unemployed women who maintain expensive lifestyles.
Adeyanju, in a post shared on X, linked his observation to the economic challenges facing many Nigerians. He argued that the current financial situation makes it difficult for individuals to depend entirely on others to meet their personal expenses.
According to him, taking on the financial responsibility of a partner who has no income but expects a costly lifestyle could place additional pressure on the person providing the money.
Adeyanju therefore urged people to be mindful of financial responsibilities within relationships, particularly at a time when many households are dealing with rising living costs and economic pressures.
His remarks have generated discussions online, with social media users expressing different views on financial expectations, employment and responsibility in relationships.
