Activist raises alarm over alleged attempt to secure release of woman arrested over child exploitation

Human rights activist Israel Joe has raised fresh concerns over the case of a 36-year-old woman arrested in Anambra State over allegations involving the exploitation of her young daughter for explicit online content.

In a statement shared on social media, the activist alleged that the woman’s arrest may be connected to a wider network involved in producing and distributing disturbing online material for paying clients.

He claimed that some foreign individuals who allegedly patronised such content were already aware of the woman’s arrest and were attempting to raise funds to secure her release.

Joe further alleged that efforts could be made to influence the legal process by engaging a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), presenting alternative narratives and potentially attempting to secure bail for the suspect. However, these claims have not been independently verified, and there is no confirmation from the police or other authorities that any attempt to interfere with the investigation or prosecution has occurred.

The activist also claimed that other individuals may be involved in similar activities on online platforms and urged law-enforcement agencies to investigate the wider network rather than focusing solely on the arrested woman.
He called for the suspect’s devices and relevant online communications to be examined as part of the investigation.

Joe said he had been conducting his own investigation into some of the platforms allegedly used to distribute such material. He also warned parents and guardians to pay closer attention to their children’s online activities and called on authorities to strengthen efforts to protect minors from digital exploitation.

The woman’s arrest reportedly followed an investigation into allegations that she used her underage daughter to produce explicit content. Authorities have yet to publicly establish the full extent of the alleged operation, and the suspect remains entitled to due process as the investigation continues.
